Fees & Payment
Fees
Our fees are $35.00 per hour, including research, analysis and
report preparation PLUS, but not limited to, cost of certificate
fees, microfilm rentals, photocopies, document copies,
correspondence costs, parking, long distance phone charges and
faxes, postage and handling, travel expenses at the current IRS
allowable rate per mile and other ordered or approved
out-of-pocket expenses.
Note:
For heir research and probate
companies: Rates vary from $50 to $60 per hour depending on the
nature of research and the speed at which you need the work
accomplished.
Retainer
A
retainer of 50% of the amount authorized is required before
research can begin. Upon completion, all hourly research costs
will be deducted from the retainer. Hourly labor costs will
include the time it takes us to review of previous research,
correspondence (e-mail, phone, postal mail), research, analysis
and report writing time. An invoice for the balance of research
fees and expenses will be sent with the research report and
accompanying documents.
Individual Record
Searches
Instead of hourly research, you may request look-ups in specific
records, i.e. census records, obituaries, vital records, wills,
probate records, etc.

Flat fee of $25.00
per look-up, plus mileage and actual cost of copies as charged
by repository.

If look-up takes more
than one hour, the regular rate of $35 an hour will be charged.
With the exception of professional probate companies, new clients must pay the flat fee up front and will be billed for
the cost of copies when mailed.
Census Search
We
will search United States Federal Census Record indexes and
resulting records (1790 through 1930). An individual search means
looking for one name in one census record. Extremely common names
(example: John Smith in 1850 New York) will only be searched at
the regular rate of $35 an hour.
Payment
We ask that you contact us first by
using our
Request Form or by email

rlang@langresearch.com before sending your retainer or payment.
After you have corresponded with us and agreed to the specifics of
the services you have requested, and actual amount to be paid,
research can begin on your project. If you have already completed
the initial consultation and have agreed on a payment amount,
please proceed.

For example, if you are paying a retainer fee of $150.00, enter
